Painkuni Festival

April 12 - April 21

The Painkuni festival spans ten days, featuring unique rituals each day. On the ninth day, the leader of the Travancore Royal Family participates in the palli vetta (royal hunt) ritual, conducted near the Vettakorumakan Temple in the Fort area. The culmination of the festival involves the aarattu procession to Shanghumugham Beach, where the idols are ritually immersed in the sea. During this procession, male members of the Royal Family of Travancore, including the king, accompany the deities.
