Malayattoor Perunnal

April 27, 2026

The Malayattoor Perunnal, also known as Puthunjayar, is a significant pilgrimage and festival held at Malayattoor Church on the Sunday after Easter. Thousands of devotees undertake a sacred journey up the Malayattoor Hill, carrying wooden crosses of varying sizes as an act of faith and devotion. The entire village transforms into a welcoming space for pilgrims, resonating with prayers and hymns. Observed in April, this unique festival is deeply linked to St. Thomas the Apostle, who is believed to have prayed at this hilltop site, making it one of the most revered Christian pilgrimage centers in Kerala.
