Kadavallur Ekadashi
February 1
Sree Rama Temple, located in Kadavallur, Thrissur district, is renowned for hosting the Kadavallur Anyonyam, the annual assembly of Rig Vedic scholars. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, worshipped here as a four-armed Vishnu, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple’s grand ten-day Arattu festival, celebrated on the Pooyam asterism in the Malayalam month of Medam (April-May), is a significant religious event.
Another important observance at the temple is Ekadasi, a sacred day in the Hindu lunar calendar, occurring twice a month—once during the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) and once during the Krishna Paksha (waning moon). Devotees observe fasting and prayers on these days, seeking spiritual purification and divine blessings.
